MIGUEL BONACHEA is a Cuban-born classical guitarist, educator, and internationally acclaimed performer whose career spans more than four decades across the Americas, Europe, and the Caribbean. He began his studies at Havana’s National School of Arts with Rolando Moreno Efraín Amador and Flores Chaviano, later earning his Bachelor of Music from the Instituto Superior de Arte under Jesús Ortega.As a soloist, Bonachea has performed at prestigious concert halls and international guitar festivals in Cuba, Colombia, México, Ecuador, Perú, Martinique, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, and the United States. He has also appeared as a soloist with symphony and chamber orchestras, presenting a repertoire that ranges from the Renaissance and Baroque to major 20th and 21st-century works.He has collaborated closely with leading Latin American composers such as Andrés Posada, Yalil Guerra, Clemente Díaz, among others. He taught at Cuba’s National School of Arts and the Instituto Superior de Arte before serving as Dean of the Conservatory of Music ‘Antonio María Valencia’ in Cali, Colombia. He later became head of the guitar department at EAFIT University in Medellín, training new generations of guitarists and offering master classes throughout Latin America.His work has been recognized with numerous awards, including prizes at the Havana International Guitar Competition, including the Special Prize for Best Performance of Cuban Music, and distinctions from UNEAC and the Amadeo Roldán National Competition.Now based in Florida, he continues an active career as a concert artist, chamber musician, and teacher. Through performances, recordings, and masterclasses, he shares the richness of the classical guitar tradition while championing new music to audiences worldwide.

The journey extends through Máximo Diego Pujol’s Suite Buenos Aires, presented in four movements, each associated with a neighborhood that offers an intimate glimpse into the city’s unique voices and tango essence.Subsequently, the repertoire transitions to Barcelona with Moisès Bertran’s Miniatures per Gaudí, resonating with the architect’s imaginative and creative prowess. The program delves later into more specific scenes, featuring a tango, a Cuban son, and a guagancó, rhythms that evoke a vivid portrayal of the city’s inhabitants.
